Victoria, BC, May 28, 2008 ─ GenoLogics today announced the third annual Canary Derby Auction being held on Tuesday June 3 between 9:00am - 5:30pm at the Vancouver Island Technology Park (VITP) to raise funds for early detection cancer research for the BC Cancer Foundation.

The Canary Derby Auction was conceived by the employees at GenoLogics in 2006 as a grass roots initiative with a great cause. This year GenoLogics has teamed up with Vigil Health and Camosun College to organize the annual event, which includes a silent auction in the VITP Conference Room from 9:00am to 4:30pm and a live auction from 4:30 to 5:30pm. 

The GenoLogics "dream team" is implementing a multi-faceted campaign including the auction, hockey pools, 50/50 draws, America's Next Top Model pool, online donations and other fundraising activities. The goal for the Canary Derby is to raise $150,000 this year, building on the success of last year's events, which raised $120,000 from Victoria-based tech companies.

Whether for the software we develop, the fundraising events we hold or from volunteering our time, everyone on our team knows the importance of donating to help the Canary Derby and BC Cancer Foundation in achieving their goals," commented fundraising lead Dylan Hansen.

GenoLogics and other tech companies are competing with each other to raise the most funds. Last year GenoLogics won the "friendly" fundraising competition among local tech companies and aims to do so again this year by raising even more funds.
