Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

BioChronicle from GenoLogics integrates patient, pathology, treatment, outcomes, and many other epidemiological and clinical data types into its database architecture for biomedical research access. Researchers need solutions today that conform to today’s translational research and biomedical research environment, with the ability to evolve overtime to meet tomorrow’s standards and methodologies. The BioChronicle database system integrates clinical information from a number of source systems and provisions it for translational research.

BioChronicle Database System: Clinical Data Management
The BioChronicle clinical annotations management system supports the following capabilities to enable near-term research, and future use cases:
•   Supports both a structured data model and an annotations engine using Entity – Attribute – Value pairs
•   Main entities in the data model structure:
     o   Studies / Clinical Trials
     o   Patients / Subjects
     o   Samples / Derivatives
•   EAV annotations are associated with Patients and Samples
•   EAV annotations are generally attributes or data results
•   Data models are indexed for rapid queries and data access

BioQuest Web Portal: Structured and Free Text Clinical Data Queries
Complimentary to BioChronicle, the BioQuest Web portal from GenoLogics provides free text (“Google” style) and a structured query system that work in tandem, enabling searches on unstructured datasets and providing great flexibility in navigating and mining your integrated biomedical informatics data within BioChronicle.

BioQuest can be set up to query a number of diverse BioChronicle instances, enabling the federation of multiple biorepositories into one cohesive virtual unit:
•   Intuitive interface for querying and accessing data
•   Structured queries and “Google” style search
•   Query terms defined per BioQuest in XML
•   User adaptable queries with personalized saves
•   Data downloaded into structured files for analysis
•   Advanced security model based on studies, user groups, biospecimens, and data elements
