We are proud to announce the commercial availability of the new BaseSpace® Clarity LIMS Reporting Module. The reporting module is a ready-to-use application that enables you to analyze lab metrics, identify trends, and share analytic reports throughout your lab.
As with our laboratory information management system, BaseSpace Clarity LIMS, we have focused on making the module as easy and as intuitive as possible, enabling you to quickly and easily analyze your lab’s data. Three key features contribute to the ease of use of the new reporting module:
One of the reasons that BaseSpace Clarity LIMS is so straightforward to implement and use is due to the preconfigured workflows included. Users can access workflows for common instruments without having to build their own. We have taken this same approach with reporting: the new reporting module comes with a number of different preconfigured reports that you can use immediately to view and analyze your data.

These reports were designed to address the needs of a broad number of labs, and may also be used as starting points from which to create new reports.
Many of the limitations surrounding reporting involve the need for database or SQL query knowledge. We’ve removed this barrier by delivering preconfigured data sources that do this work for you. Data sources enable you to connect to the BaseSpace Clarity LIMS database using different data views. These views present data for a specific purpose and combine data from one or more database tables. You can use the data sources to visual data to build and edit reports.
We use an extract transform and load (ETL) process to extract data from the database and store it in a data warehouse. We do this because data in their native format in the database aren’t optimized for reporting. Using ETL to store data in a data warehouse also has the added benefit of not slowing down the database for your day-to-day use of BaseSpace Clarity LIMS.
The user interface enables you to easily see the data available to you in the data sources, drag and drop that information into a report, and share that report with other members of your lab.
The graphical and intuitive interface enables you to quickly create new reports without having to go to the SQL layer or ask developers for help writing scripts.
For labs capable of configuring their own data sources, we also provide an advanced add on. With the Pro Module, you can connect to either the Clarity LIMS database or the data warehouse or create your own custom queries and data sources.
